Need a full custom loop to cool CPU + 2 970s

Go to solution Solved by shypin,

I would love that, I just found this https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-fc970-gtx-wf3-nickel?SID=0qob1489ngrtut16d76opf7vv5 looks like the only G1 cooler.

I see, I just found the GPU block I need: https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-fc970-gtx-wf3-nickel?SID=0qob1489ngrtut16d76opf7vv5

LONG POST WARNING

you need:

1. a waterblock for your CPU: https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-supremacy-evo (clear) or https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-supremacy-evo-acetal (black)

2. 2 waterblocks for your GPU: https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-fc970-gtx-wf3-nickel (clear) or https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-fc970-gtx-wf3-acetal-nickel (black)

2 backplates for your GPU (optional, they only make your system look better and have minimum effect on cooling performance): https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-fc970-gtx-wf3-backplate-nickel (nickle) or https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-fc970-gtx-wf3-backplate-black (black)

3. radiator(s) (your case supports 360mm on top and 280mm in the front according to corsair's website): https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-coolstream-xe-360-triple (360mm thick option, goes in the front) or https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-coolstream-pe-360-triple (360mm slimer option, goes in the front) and https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-coolstream-ce-280-dual (280mm, goes in the front)

4. pumphttps://shop.ekwb.com/ek-xtop-d5-pwm-plexi-incl-pump (plexi) or https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-xtop-d5-pwm-acetal-incl-pump (black)

5. reservoir: choose whatever size that would fit https://shop.ekwb.com/reservoirs/reservoirs/ek-res-x3-series, maybe the 250 one or 150 one

pump-reservoir combo (optional, if you want to reduce the difficulty then go with a combo unit instead of separate pump and reservoir): https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-xres-140-d5-pwm-incl-pump (normal style) or https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-dbay-d5-pwm-incl-pump (drive bay style)

6. 14 fittings: any color of your choice here https://shop.ekwb.com/fittings/compression-fittings/for-10-13mm-3-8-1-2-tubing

7. 2 sets of tubing (1 set won't be long enough)https://shop.ekwb.com/tube-primochill-primoflextm-advanced-lrttm-12-7-9-5mm-crystal-clear-retail-3m (this is the clear one, but any color would work)

2 liters of coolant (can be premixed or mixed from concentrates, don't think 1 liter would be enough) (optional, you can use distilled water and some agents or you can use these commercial ones): https://shop.ekwb.com/accessories/cooling-liquids-coolants, a company named mayhems also make great coolant, this is my favorite http://www.mayhems.co.uk/mayhems/index.php/products/specialist-coolants/mayhems-aurora

thats basically all i can think of right now, hopefully i didnt forget anything. You could buy some extras in terms of fittings, tubing and coolant just to be sure but that should work.

Dont forget fans! youll need 2x 140mm fans and 3x 120mm fans, those labeled "static pressure" would be preferable

Hey there, I've been thinking about getting a full loop to cool my 2 GPUs as well as the CPU. I'm looking for something that won't break the bank but will also be a good performer. The temperatures in my room get really really hot and I need to put an end to that situation. My case is a Corsair 760t which has lots of space. My cards are Gigabyte G1 970 and my CPU will be the i7-6700k. What are your suggestions? Maybe it will be a ton easier to just do a loop for the GPUs and use an AIO with the CPU. I'm open to all ideas.

Thanks.

A custom loop wont make your room cooler, only your computer... Unless you have the radiators outside your room...

Gaming PC: CPU: i7 4770k@4.2GHz w/ CM Nepton 140xl, GPU: Gigabyte 1070 @2050, RAM: ADATA XPG V1 16GB@2133MHz, Mobo: MSI Z97 Gaming 7, Case: Corsair NZXT S340.

So you mean the radiator will dissipate the same amount of heat on the room? Will it matter that instead of my 2 cards running on air they will be on water ? Doesn't that make it cooler?

the heat is still there its just being transfered to your room faster

the components would be a lot cooler but the room wont get any better

if you want to make the room cooler then the best way would probably to get some AC

Watercooling in general will make the room warmer since it's ability to transfer the heat from the rad to the air is more efficient due to the larger surfaces areas, the only ways to keep the room cool is either having good ventilation or A/C

Yeah, get a fan or some better ac in the room.

Alright putting aside the room temperatures, any more recommendations, should I buy EKWB blocks for my GPUs it looks so hard, will the x360 kit be able to take my cards and also my cpu?

well if you are trying to cool gpu as well you should go with an x360 + another radiator (240mm or longer)

the L360 kit would work too (the thickness of the rad doesnt matter as much as the surface area) but that one has a slightly worse pump and worse look

if you want to go full custom i can make a list for you if you want

EKWB is the only one I know that makes waterblcoks for the G1 970 so yeah for CPU either the MX or Evo block is excellent.

For the x360 kit that would work well to start off the build and to add in the two GPU waterblocks but I'd probably want to add in another 240mm rad since you are then at the bare recommended minimum of 120mm rad space per component.

Wow! I truly appreciate that man that was a lot of work, you should create a little guide for future reference so people with near same setups can be referred to. Thanks a lot ! I will take a look at all of that and evaluate my options.
