know anything about partitions?

Ok well im going to get windows 10 in a week or so and i want some free up some space on my hard drive for it (im not upgrading to win10) as of now my hard drive is split 500gb for win7 and 500gb for win8, however i don't really use win7 anymore so i want to shrink it to around 150gb (as apposed to the 500gb that it is at the moment), while i'm at it i want to decrease the win8 partition to around 300gb.

Now, if my maths is correct i should be left with 550gb as free space to allocate to win10 when i get it, soo, the bit i'm stuck at is how to i take bits of one partition and at it to another in the way i mentioned, any help is apriciated - Thanks, Dan

Move the data off you HDD and format the drive to its original state (empty) and then create new partition and move the data back on. That is the safest way to do it, and almost impossible to get data corruption.

@TEC correct me if I'm wrong, but what he is saying is that you probably could do it through disk management or a 3rd party application but there is the chance of you losing data. By doing it the way tec suggest you avoid those issues.
