Nothing is normal in the overlclocked range, People have had many different instances with high temps on a cpu at idle after overclocking.

Overlclocking will make it hotter yes and that is quite hot.

OFF TOPIC: I suggest every poll from now on to have "**CK EA" option instead of "Other"

The max temp that the 5960X can handle is 66C. I would downclock or get a better cooler.

NZXT Kraken X61 is what im using to cool the cpu

Then I would definitely downclock since that's one of the best AiOs on the market right now. Try going down to 4-4.3 GHz. You would need to build a custom loop if you want good temps at 4.5 GHz.

whut?

i just got a new pc running got an i7 5960x overclocked it to 4.5 ghz and my temp on it range while gaming from 57c to 70c its that normal

5960X and every other Haswell thermal throttles around 95-100C. 57-70C under gaming load is perfectly acceptable.

TCase does not equal core temp. TCase is measured at the IHS, not the cores.
