Which should I get?

Go to solution Solved by themaniac,

Well my PSU has just enough PCI-E connectors for it, if it's too much I can always downclock the card until I get a new PSU. The only other problems I see is that it uses the original ACX cooler, not ACX 2.0, and we all know the ACX cooler was pretty crappy with the misaligned heatpipes and all (I'm not sure if it's the same on the 780 though). That and the fact that this card is straight up 10.5", so it's gonna be a tight fit. Should I go for it or should I stay with the 380 Nitro? It's still a good card, although the 780 provides performance similar to a 970 (which would be great for me).

on the 700 series cards the acx were fine and the acx 2.0 weren't made until the 900 sereis cards were released and they fixed the cooler and named the fixed one acx 2.0+

I want to upgrade to a new GPU without actually saving up, so to do this I want to sell my old ASUS GTX 760 (probably for $120) and my old ASUS laptop (A53E-XT2, Core i3, 120GB SSD, etc) for like $100 (power jack problem so it's worth less). Now I can either get a brand new Sapphire R9 380 Nitro 4GB (which I dearly love, it's such a beautiful card  ) or I can find a used card for $200 like this GTX 780 FTW: http://houston.craigslist.org/sop/5121379810.html But that would mean I can't use it until I upgrade my PSU since I don't think 400W is enough for a 780 (or is it?). Plus it might be too long for my case, I can modify the chassis to fit a 10.5" card, but I don't know if the 780 is longer than that. Or I could get something like an R9 290 which I'm sure is still too long: http://houston.craigslist.org/sop/5108077101.html

What do you guys think? Just buy a new, sexy 380 Nitro? Or buy a used better card? I will be playing on a VG248QE, and I don't plan on upgrading. I really love the 380 Nitro, but there are better options as far as I know. Any suggestions?

Using a PSU calculator it is cutting it real close at 375W. Then again I was running a 760 and an FX 6300 OC'd to 4.2GHz, and it was doing just fine.

yeah get the 780 if it turns out you dont have enough watts you still have that msi 760 until you get a new psu

Ahh, okay. I'm trying to see if the guy still has the card, I'm also lowering the price on the laptop so I can sell it quicker. Thanks for the help! Hopefully the card wrecks everything at 1080p!
