Recently, my brother started doing something that strains the internet way too much causing my ping to skyrocket. It might be that he is downloading something or even streaming something heavy. What can I do? I can't have any CFW on my router its ISP locked.
-I use wired connection to my pc

-I have tried using several routers, one wireless only and one ethernet only

-I have about ~2.9 MBps Down and aroud ~5.0 mbps (when he uses it, I get about 1/3 or even less fraction of the speed up and down)

-Main router n600(ISP Locked), second router that used to testing if separate router that modem might divide bandwith evenly was wnr1000v2 (both netgear router)

Might sound childish but it pisses me off knowing, when I have low ping I am aceing and having high ping makes me bottom frag.

How the hell can your ISP justify to lock you out of your router? have you tried the standard Netgear login? (Username: admin Password: password)

With getting into the router there really isn't much you can do other than to talk to your brother about it.

Ye man, It blocks automatically if i put in my dhcp ip, like 192.... to login, it makes me go to optimum.net if i want to change my wireless password or ssid

Edit: They also made sure that no one can put ddwrt firmware on it

Your ISP is run by assholes.

in that case, it would probably be easiest solution to talk to your brother about it.

One thing you could try, is to put your spare router between your brothers computer and your modem/router.

Then you limit the bandwith that the router can output.

Edit: is there any possible way, that you can set your modem/router into bridge mode?

so is he watching 24/7? because i can't even play a single mp game with out having to deal with 100+ ping all the time

You never know.. But in all seriousness, if you look on the settings for your router, it should show what is using all of the connection.
