So a few weeks back my ASUS g20AJ surged and stopped working so I was forced to get a new PC but I salvaged what I could from the older PC and tested them on another G20AJ (It isn't mine.) but now I am wondering, is there anyway I could still use these LED's without needing the G20AJ motherboard? Could I splice/ghetto rig it to work? Or would I need to have some sort of power adapter for the 94v-0 connector?

Are they RGB capable LED's if they are RGB you need a controller or way to vary the voltages for all three colors similar to the NZXT Hue using the three nobs. As for the voltage most LED strips are 12V but I would double check to see how it's wired on the PCB traces to determine that.

It is definitely RGB capable as it comes with breath light controller software which allows you to manage the colors on a whim. I see now that it will take a tad bit more than splicing and ghetto rigging. Figured I would ask before I break the board.

I'd probably leave it alone then and get an LED kit if your want LED lights, but as for the Asus unit can you not RMA or replace the faulty component.

My buddy owns a shop and a bench and we went in to solder and replace the broken components and while it worked for a while longer it eventually stopped working all together. The board cannot be replaced even if you have a warranty due to the G20 policy wherein if you open the case you void your warranty. I had opened it up to replace the graphics card inside which worked perfectly for the time being. But now I have a new board and the only thing I would really like to keep from the older board is the LED's that came with it considering I am still using the older boards hard-drive as well as the software that came with it.
