Possibly complicated DAC setup....

Go to solution Solved by reckless,

DAC's AKA Digital To Analog converter. Means it takes a digital signal such as USB, Optical, HDMI and convert's it to Analog.

This could possible suffice for what you want.

So, as the title suggests, this may be complicated/hard to find, but I've never looked for a DAC before so I don't know exactly what to look for. What I want is a DAC with a digital optical AND analog (preferably AUX) in with an AUX output... Like I said, I've never looked for DAC's before, so I don't even know if that's possible. The reason I want this is because I'm bringing my desktop and an Xbox one to college, and my monitors don't have speakers (U2212HM), and I want my speakers to be able to play the audio from my desktop and Xbone. Anyone know of such product, or another solution? If I can't find a reasonably priced DAC, I'll probably grab a mod mic and a headphone/microphone adapter and just use my ATH-M50x and the mod mic for audio and communication.

I mean, almost any receiver will be able to do that...

So I guess what I'm looking for then is a receiver with auxiliary and digital optical in, so I can switch between them? Like I said, first time looking for this kind of hardware

But rather large for his use case.

True. I personally use mine as a monitor stand because I am too tall for normal monitors. It makes it so that I can actually have my monitor at eye level.

Seems like a monitor would be to heavy (or just my non led ccfl monitor)

http://www.engadget.com/products/dell/ultrasharp/2408wfp/ That's my monitor. It's pretty heavy, as it's also CCFL. My receiver is far heavier though, and the feet reach just about all the way across the top of the receiver, so the top doesn't flex in at all.

Mine is too, but I think it has a few posts that reinforce it in the middle.
