First PC Build

Go to solution Solved by Avatar999,

Is this a good final build? https://azerty.nl/winkelmandje/winkelmandje/?legen=1&product%5B837546%5D=1&product%5B844745%5D=1&product%5B834363%5D=1&product%5B475292%5D=1&product%5B531109%5D=1&product%5B794626%5D=1&product%5B735801%5D=1&product%5B233056%5D=1&product%5B682293%5D=1&product%5B843615%5D=1&product%5B608777%5D=1

The only thing I am still not sure about is the screen.

I want a screen where black is black (IPS?), where the reaction time is 6ms or less and a HDMI and DVI-d port.

Does somebody know where I could find a screen with those requirements?

I am planning on building my first PC and I want to know if everything works together.

I am not sure if I'm missing certain things, like memory hight and CPU cooler compatibility.

My budget is € 2500,-.

This is the computer I want to build:

https://azerty.nl/winkelmandje/winkelmandje/?legen=1&product%5B837546%5D=1&product%5B844308%5D=1&product%5B844745%5D=1&product%5B834363%5D=1&product%5B582391%5D=1&product%5B475292%5D=1&product%5B531109%5D=1&product%5B794626%5D=1&product%5B735801%5D=1&product%5B233056%5D=1&product%5B477530%5D=1

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yeah everything looks good. But a WD Red hard drive is for a nas so get a WD Blue or a Black

What is the reason to get an EVGA PSU?

I've picked the WD Red because they are more reliable with longer uptime according to the internet.

80+ Gold, higher quality in general, more for your money.

WD Reds are made more for a NAS where they will be running 24/7. For a desktop computer, it makes more sense to have a wd black or blue, or even a Seagate Barracuda. However, if you do want to store important files without the risk of a drive failure, the reds will have a longer life to them. The part about getting an EVGA PSU isn't necessary unless you want a slightly more higher quality psu.

Because the Corsair CX isn't suited to a high end gaming pc. The psu is the most important component, so don't skimp on it.

I would also suggest X99 over a Skylake i7 build depending on the price.

Of course getting a better psu is necessary. The corsair CX isn't meant for a high end pc system.

It's true that a psu with higher efficiency would be a better option, but an EVGA psu isn't his only option. He could stick with corsair and go for the rm or the ax series if he wants.

High end Corsair units are fine but they are usually overpriced compared to the likes of EVGA, XFX etc . The RM isn't the greatest of their offerings either. The newer RMi is much better, but again it is usually more expensive than an equivalent alternative.

The WD Black are more expensive than the WD Red. I also am going to use the computer very often, like 18 hours a day.

So would that really be a problem?

Everything with a gold rating for higher end builds and a good brand is nice.

I updated the build with a better motherboard atleast for your pricerange: https://azerty.nl/winkelmandje/winkelmandje/?legen=1&product%5B837546%5D=1&product%5B844745%5D=1&product%5B834363%5D=1&product%5B475292%5D=1&product%5B531109%5D=1&product%5B794626%5D=1&product%5B735801%5D=1&product%5B233056%5D=1&product%5B477530%5D=1&product%5B642827%5D=1&product%5B843615%5D=1

From what i've seen on Intel http://ark.intel.com/products/88195/Intel-Core-i7-6700K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_20-GHz only supports DDR3L 1600 DDR4 2133 its like sure higher will work? otherwise here a kit: https://azerty.nl/0-6121-804734/kingston-hyperx-fury-ddr4-.html higher speeds dont even matter your only going to pay much more...

The motherbord you selected is almost perfect, except that the price seems higher and no there's no VGA support (I need VGA support, because the second screen has only a VGA connector and I don't have any converters at home). I've found this motherbord https://azerty.nl/8-6462-843617/asus-z170-pro-gaming-moederbor.html is this a good one?

Regarding the memory speed: isn't XMP profiling supposed to take care of that? Somebody I know had DDR3 memory running at 1333MHz until he changed the profile to get 1600MHz.

You can't really go wrong with Asus motherboards.

Also make sure you get a good quality power supply. Something like the EVGA G2/GS or XFX XTR. If you want something cheaper then the EVGA B2 is good.

If you set the xmp profile then it should run the ram at it's rated speed.

These are all good units:

A couple of cheaper units which are still good:

If you are getting a graphics card, you won't be plugging in your monitors to the motherboard, you will be plugging them in to the gpu. I believe EVGA cards come with the vga to dvi adapters. If not, you could always get one for $3.

Why do you wanne use your Intel grapichs? i would strongly recommend a converter xD i use one too a DVI > VGA should find maybe on Azerty and... yep https://azerty.nl/0-1548-348908/startech-com-dvi-to-vga-cable-adapter-.html

Unless you wanne buy a 100EUR  motherboard thats worth it no that motherboard doesnt have the handy overclocking features onboard start/reset a bios screen too i personally like to have.

Found a case with side panel windows too its the same one: https://azerty.nl/0-1044-528518/corsair-carbide-series-300r-wind.html

Thats true, I will use a DVI > VGA converter with the ASUS Maximus VIII Ranger motherboard.

I don't want pay more for a side panel, because the computer resides on the floor.
