Multiple nvme drives?

Atm I'm using a rampage v, wondering if I can use multiple intel 750 pci or 2.5 drives... also would this share bandwidth with sata contrllers, or literally only eat up pci lanes? I'm thinking about going 12 ssds (8 intel and 4 using the sata express slots) and then going 2 intel 750 add ins...

you are going to run out of pcie expansion slots, but yes you could try.

Check your mobo documentation it will say what does and doesn't get used when. Likely sata ports will be disabled, so you will have to plan carefully.

Well sorry but every mobo is completely different. The documentation exists though if you look for it in your mobo book. Otherwise ask the manufacturer.

So, you have a 5960X and want to run two Intel 750 AIC on it.

2 of the drives will be fine.

 

from the top of my head the drive uses 4x PCIe3.0 that means you are using 8 or your 40(?) or so pcie-lanes. 32 is plenty for the resot of the components, as the non-2011-3 CPU's only have 27 or so.

Yeah you can run two NVMe, I did not know if you wanted the 2.5 or AIC version, if you want the AIC version then it is possible, if you go for the M.2 version you can only have one of them, I think there is only 1 M.2 slot on the X99 Motherboards, there is one on the MSI X99 Godlike so I would say there is one on the other Motherboards
