When i go to "this pc" and look at "local disc (c:)" recently i've noticed that the GB free section fluctuates in seemingly irrational ways. Yesterday i had 716 gb's free, and then a few lightweight updates later, it was down to 712 gb, now its at 704 gbs and i have no idea how all that space has been used up...

What's going on here?

How do i fix this?

Another question i have...when you update drivers for example, does that space that the update requires stay gobbled up or...? where does it go?

run disk cleanup

possible its system restore taking up space, you can try deleting restore points.

When I install NVIDIA drivers, it extracts the files to a location and doesn't clean them up after it's finished. I have to do that manually with CCleaner.

I don't have that problem. My temp folder is in a RAMDisk, so as soon as the installer restarts my PC it's gone for good.

Hey there Bakala,

I would also suggest that you run Disk Clean up and see what is taking so much space. Another option is to check all your applications and see if any of them are creating backups, temporary files or restore points that might be taking up so much space. Looking into your pagefile and hiberfil can also help you increase your free space.
I'd also run an anti-malware software and see if that comes clean.
