So, this asus dcu2 piece of a monster equipped with triple slot cooler, can easily get 1000Mhz on core and 1500Mhz on memory without breaking a sweat (max 65c on valley, 70ish on furmark)

The thing is after adding +20 to core it crashes on everything i have, this a bad overclocker? this happen's without oc on memory too,

using the amd overdrive to oc, +20% on powerlimit

The card is a beast, quiet one, but this really annoys me <_<

Well you have a bad card

My card came with 1050mhz stock, and it goes to 1100 ( have not tried higher )

My card is pretty noisy, so I ain't oc'ing it

Well, afterall it's Ghz edition?

Yup

sapphire, so under "boost mode" it goes to 1050

Better than my other card, couldn't get over 850mhz :o

not yet, since my friend who's been using amd cards longer recommended to use overdrive for oc

Try using AB and see what results you get, I'm having a hard time believing a triple slot monster won't overclock.

Just tried it on valley, using afterburner, 1000/1500 and 1200mv on corevoltage (highest ive seen this one have on stock voltages is 1170) no change's until i bumbed up to 1010Mhz on core, instant failure

Heh... Looks like it won't budge. Raise voltage and see if it overclocks. If it does then that's one lazy chip.

ASIC quality? Maybe a lot of voltage leak?

62.3%

That's relatively low actually. Maybe the voltage leak doesn't show in temps since the cooling on the 7970 was beyond beastly

That asic reading doesn't actually matter, my 7970/280x has 60% asic but yet I can clock much higher :/

Don't know, but temp's have not changed, max of 65-66 with 1.3 and stock

Generally, cards with lower ASIC will require more voltage than those with higher. My clocks are almost the same as yours yet I'm running 1.1V. ASIC is a thing, to some extent. But your temps are so gud, me wants ._.

Maybe, Maybe some day i will test custom bios etc, not sure yet

Bios flashing IS a thing - look on techpowerup's database of bioses. IIRC there was a rather high clocked Asus one. Just be careful if you don't have a bios switch :)

EDIT:http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/index.php?architecture=&manufacturer=Asus&model=HD+7970&interface=&memType=&memSize=
