BIOS password?

Go to solution Solved by Volbet,

Shut down the computer and reset the CMOS. You do this by either pressing a button on the rear I/O ot unplugging the computer and removing the battery. Note: This will reset all your bios settings

So whenever I start my computer I get this black screen with a blue rectangle requesting a password?

I have looked into this and people say it's a BIOS password? I got this like a week ago but I was able to get past it by unplugging my machine. This one is more persistant.

What should I do?

Hi,

Usually BIOS are setup from within the BIOS (both setup, changed and removed).

In order to remove it, you have to do as follows:

1. Start computer

2. Enter your BIOS password

3. Right after that hit the key to enter the bios repeatedly (have a look at the manual of your motherboard to know which key it is. Usually Del, F11, F2, F...)

4. When in the BIOS, go to the security tab and there should be a BIOS-Password option...

It is strange that this appeared out of nowhere (if I understood this correctly) though.

Hope I could help!

@FloGer. Your method is only effective if he knows the password.

I have no idea. I have never had this happen at random before. It might be a flaw in you bios, but that is just a wild guess
