I am currently searching for a new (gaming) laptop.

I've looked at many different options and narrowed my selection down to the Razer Blade and the Alienware 15.

I would mainly use the laptop to go to my friends house and play games like GTA V, Battlefield 4, CS:GO and a few others.

I already have a MacBook Pro to take with me everywhere so the portability isn't as important as for example performance, cooling and noise.

Razer Blade (2015):

i7 4720HQ

16gb Ram

GTX 970M

256gb SSD

QHD+ Touchcreen

$: 2665.00

Alienware 15:

i7 4720HQ

8gb Ram (i'll upgrade the ram to 16gb myself as it is MUCH cheaper)

GTX 970M

1TB HDD (again, i'll upgrade myself for th aformentioned reason)

$: 1700.00 + ca. $200

Which one should I chose if the price difference isn't a big factor?

Those are alright, but to be honest youre paying so much more for the brand.

Look up Sager, Clevo and Metabox. They are all amazing machines which are super customizable and offer amazing gaming potential :)

if you dont plan on taking the laptop everyday for say school, the razer blade isn't worth the extra money. I have a blade, but plan to use it as my daily in uni...

something as beefy as the alienware would be fine for occasional lan parties at your friends place...

Also look at stuff from sager, or clevo, as they might not look as good, but you wont be paying as much just for the alienware brand...

Mark this as the best answer, since I have used 2 high-end gaming laptops for around a month.

Just don't go Alienware...ever.

Razer Blade (2015)

High-res supernice screen with touchscreen; amazing.

Superfast and OK battery, keyboard is above decent.

Aorus X5

High-res; beautiful screen WITHOUT touchscreen.

Even faster than the Razer but with worse battery, keyboard is as good as it gets on a laptop (not counting GT80)

Aorus X3 Plus

I have not used this but Linus also review this, it's basically a bit slower and smaller Aorus X5 with a higher pixel dense display.

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge 64GB

PC "SkyT": Radeon 390, i5 6600K, NZXT H440 Razer

I'm going to be THAT guy.

@Vale4600, if you already have a laptop, have you considered a small form factor rig as opposed to a gaming laptop?

It'll be cheaper, faster, have better and higher quality components, and it can be upgraded much easier.

If you're willing to consider that alternative I can whip up a build on PCPP.

@TheCaptain53, a small form factor gaming rig isnt really an option as I'll probably travel by bike to my friends to game.

So carrying the rig, mouse+keyboard and monitor would be pretty inconvinient.

Fair enough, in that case, a 'gaming' laptop would probably be your best bet.

I'm not hugely knowledgeable, but MSI and ASUS make some nice laptops. Be worth giving them a look.

@Nonco, the problem with these brands is that they're not available in Switzerland.

Ah thats a shame, im sure people would offer shipping from other parts of Europe. But yeah might be safer to stick with a local sale

There you go, problem solved, a Clevo reseller in Europe.
