Have you tried CTRL+ALT+DEL, open Task Manager, go to File -> Run New Task, type explorer.exe? Or does it not run that way either?

If that fails, go to File -> Run New Task, then open CMD. Inside the command line, type sfc /scannow

Shorter version of this is "Windows + R". Just brings up the run prompt quicker.

When I want to run explorer.exe I get the error code 0xc0000022

Edit: It's my mams profile and somehow she doesn't have admin rights -.- even though she was the first account on the laptop..

That's gonna be a pain... See if you can boot into Safe Mode and run sfc /scannow from the command line

Hmm. If explorer still isn't starting, The best option would be to boot up a linux distro, backup her documents, then clean install or recover Windows. From safe mode are you able to get into system recovery?

Dunno, don't care really either, she should just buy a SSD and get Windows 10...

Same happened to my mums laptop. I eventually took out the hardrive of the laptop - plugged it into my test-bench and did a full format (that clears all info and attempts to fix corrupt/non-working sectors on the drive) (keep in mind to backup if you choose this path). dccb664c09.PNG

Soon after reinstalling the OS - it worked again. Doing a simple reinstall of the OS wont fix the problem (at least in my case it did not.)

Good luck

***EDIT***

If your going to do this - be sure that the outlined "Quick Format" has no check in it. This will initiate a full format when selected. After that, just let it sit and work its magic. (Works on HDD's too, not just SSD's. Just clicked on SSD 2 as an example :) )
