Sorry for the fairly useless(?) thread  :P

Just educated someone on why they should never get a macbook or any Apple computer for that manner and drawn up a couple of graphs which i felt compelled to share.

Any tips to improve my graph / tweak the gradient?

Share your opinions on this matter as well, i wanna see the viewpoints of Apple users to be honest, take this as a discussion thread on why/why not go Apple.

No flaming please!

AroundWayOtherThe: Your second graph should probably spike upward around $2500. Apple does make good products, just at a very hefty premium.

Update 1: Apple graph tweaked, the Mac Pro does boast fairly powerful hardware! (Which i failed to realise) Albeit at a hefty premium.

Update 2: General graph tweaked to give a more accurate performance scale relative to the other graph.

Not sure how that relates to anything of discussion in this thread or complies with the 'no flaming' part but let us ignore that. I'm indeed interested in some civilized Apple vs Others discussion which have frankly been lacking - the majority blows out into an uncontrollable flame war.

The first post(mine) shall be the kicker and it symbolises my opinion on the subject of discussion. Carry on please & ignore the anomaly peeps :/

Sure mac may not be the best specs you can get for the price but I can guarantee that macs are the most reliable platform. Just my opinion. The build quality on those things are incredibly nice.

So long as it is kept civil and a mature debate on Apple vs Other products then it will be fine. If (when) it turns in a slogging and brow beating match it will be shut down.

Your statements in the OP are pretty bold and several people, including myself, have reservations about what you say. So long as people stick on topic it will stay open. Simple as.

Long story short, give me money you spend on new Apple Mac and I will build you a better PC at same or lower price point.

Unless you need mobility. But when you need mobility for work you are looking for best of the best and Apple 'best of the best' costs multiple of 'best of the best' of Windows/Linux based laptops. And when you need mobility for gaming Macs can barely play any games.

And that's basically it.

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

Hmm, but aren't there custom workstation laptops out there that boast monster hardware @ a lower price point?(Dell has some i think) That's what i've been wondering

Noted, that's why i'm interested to see what others have on this topic in particular, whilst i see no compelling force towards grabbing an Apple over any other product, i do acknowledge that others have varying viewpoints and i hope they would come forward and share why.

Ok, then show me an All-In-One like the iMac with a Desktop-Quadcore and 27" IPS 1440p monitor!

Or, show me a ~2kg Notebook with QC, dedicated Graphics and sRGB Display >=1920x1080 AND solid Build quality AND >6h battery!

Let's go!

The build quality is good, but what do you mean reliable? (Compared to other platforms).

(Something you can guarantee is not an opinion).

How much do those macs cost?

And provide exact model ID so i can look up what they have inside exactly.

Why all in ones? What about a mini itx system with a 27" IPS 1440p touchscreen?

Like he said for mobility, Mac shines.

Just find the cheapest you can find with the given criteria ;)

Because Apple doesn't build mini itx systems, but other computer brands offer All-In Ones.

Also people buy an iMac because they want all hardware in one case.

Oh you mean the Precision M4700? That's sitting on the desk right across from me?

Which is twice the size and signficantly more heavier than a comparable macbook pro?

And which also btw costs more if you configure them somewhat equal?

The Dell XPS One outperforms/equals the All-in-one iMac at the same price point, with it's only drawback being the non-IPS panel.

Although I personally think and guarantee it's the most reliable os, that still makes it an opinion. In the countless times I've used a mac I've never encountered a crash. However, on windows I've had it crash on me numerous time. Don't get me wrong, I love windows. In fact, its my operating system of choice. I just believe that ios is more reliable, especially when you're doing something important.

Really? How many people actually want their hardware in one object and don't just buy it because it looks cool or it has an apple logo on it?

You should check the definition of guarantee on google or something. For me, windows didn't crash... at all. From my experience ios isn't "the most reliable" compared to windows. So yeah, can you still "guarantee" it?

Stats? Charts? Give me something to work with here.

As I already said. No more specifics, just the following criteria:

'Ok, then show me an All-In-One like the iMac with a Desktop-Quadcore and 27" IPS 1440p monitor!

Or, show me a ~2kg Notebook with QC, dedicated Graphics and sRGB Display >=1920x1080 AND solid Build quality AND >6h battery!'

Why would I follow your criteria? Give me a good reason. Why not build an mini itx system and get an IPS monitor? What's so great about all in ones?

About the notebook, like the guy said before, in mobility, Mac shines.

Okay, regardless if I used the word correctly or not I was just trying to get my opinion out there. You are entitled to your opinion about windows and I respect that.

1) Because you can't

2) Because people buy iMacs for the fact that they are (at least in the buyers eyes) good looking All-In-Ones and not for performance/price.

----

If you don't see the difference between an AIO that's smaller than many 27" monitors, with only one power cable connected and a mini+itx system with at least 3 cables, I might no be able to help you. But anyway, why mini-ITX and no Full Tower?
