finally after months and months of research I bought the ASUS 27" IPS FreeSync monitor today. This thing is HUGE!!! OMG Coming fro a 1080p 24" this screen is a beast! Bright (too bright ) vivid colors. Could only do Mini DP to DP in my cards as it did not come with DP to DP but not sure if that matters.. ran fire strike and fire strike extreme. then again cause new monitor shut off my SLI. went i put it back on my scores were good :)

did a fast heroic in WoW and WOW Grim Rail Depot look amazing! I am happy with my purchase so far

NOT ONE DEAD PIXEL!!!! Got it form Microcenter too! Im sure it was tossed around in the back a bit.

I do not own a FreeSync GPU but the guy at microcenter even said it will be fine with SLi 970s. Running WoW at 140 fps steady no problem.

one crappy thing is Nvidia control panel put Witcher 3 on every low setting possible... used to all be on Ultra and High. Gonna mess around with it more in the morning

Wait why did you get a FreeSync panel if you have Nvidia GPUs? You should've gotten G-Sync, now you have to buy AMD cards to take advantage of the FreeSync.

It's not like FreeSync and G-SYNC are interchangeable price-wise...

Well I mean in his defense it's not like freesync monitors are that much more than regular ones with the same feature set.

True, didn't consider that. I would've just gotten a 144Hz panel. :P

That depends on what you are looking at. For me personally I am all for the 1440p ultrawide curved and until quite recently that was limited to 75 Hz.

I would have gotten g-sync, but I can understand the price difference is fairly large to a budget setup.

Sure they are, maybe G-Sync is a little more expensive but they're hand in hand. They are competition after all. Honestly I don't want either of them as long as my monitor is 144Hz.

Maybe it's just regional price differences, but a G-SYNC monitor is always $150-200 more expensive than an equivalent monitor without G-SYNC. And FreeSync equivalents are about $100-200 cheaper than their G-SYNC equivalents. So basically FreeSync doesn't cost any more than if it didn't have FreeSync. Which is kinda the point. That's why it's called FreeSync.

Well I like my VG248QE, Honestly this is the most monitor I'll ever need. I might upgrade to the 27" version when the time comes. :)

Yeah, kind of figured out what you were trying to say after I posted that. I guess if you get all the features you want it happens to have FreeSync included then more power to ya right?

Yes I fully understand g sync with my set up is ideal. That was the original plan when buying my cards. I just can't spend 700-1200 on a monitor... This one was 579.00 and had all features I wanted. Down the road I can get a fury when my 970s have run their life cycle and take advantage of freesync. Which is only 90 Hz max right now from what I read, so it still needs time I believe.

Guy at microcenter agreed and he even said a single card with g sync is better then SLi and in not gonna get a 980ti anytime soon. I love this monitor so far. Huge upgrade from what I had for years and years.

I always been team red deep down anyways :-) in a year or black Friday I will go back AMD

Have 29 days to decide if I wanna return it and get a SWIFT or Acer

Put up an alarm a few days before that time expires.

If there are no rumors of cheaper 144hz Gsync IPS screens coming soon (1920x1080 wont work for you anymore, but 2560x1080 would) - then you can be sure that you made the best choice you could this year. A 144hz IPS is fucking awesome even without gsync either way. Gsync is cool, but its not THAT big a deal, especially if you have a 144hz monitor.

I agree its fucking stupid to pay these insane prices for monitors. 600$ should be the max.
