High ping in games

I'm getting like 400+ or more ping often in games. What can I do to fix this?

Rightnow speedtest only says 17 ping

Which Games. 

Change steam setting to use lower ping.

Settings>ingame

 

BF4, Arma 3

 

Any third-party firewall installed (includes your AV if it includes a firewall)?

Which games, what servers.

 

Bf4, Arma 3, like all the servers

Many times in bf4  the lowest ping is still like 400

Try selecting a closer server if you haven't already. Also make sure nobody else is doing intensive stuff (e.g. downloading) while you're playing.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

To find out the issue, do a traceroute and if the Ping is high within the first 7 hops it's an ISP issue and if you get high ping from 8 and onwards its your connection to the router

To do a traceroute open up cmd and type "tracert "IP" -t

The ip can be say Google.com

So: tracert bbc.com

Tell me the results
