When i start my pc, it boots all normally, windows are running but for some reason it needs to search or load in stuff like drives in my computer or the links in the side navigation panel are also loading in.

The weird thing is that I can access all of my files. The thumbnails don't load but they all open and i can view images, listen to songs, it all works. I can even run programs from any of my drives, I can even start the startup apps that didn't start on boot.

I've got 3 HDDs, 1ssd + 1 external hdd

PC specs:

i7 2700k @ 4.4ghz

Gigabyte Z68X-UD3P-B3

8GB Corsair 1600mhz ram ddr3

asus strix 970 gtx

OCZ Agility 3 120gb ssd

2x WD Black 1.5tb

1x Samsung 750gb hdd

1x LG external hdd

Corsair HX650w psu

Running windows 8.1

I tried to boot without my external, nothing.

I scanned for malware and crap, found legit nothing.

I guess now is the perfect time to format and install win10...

Hey there suky,

I'd run diagnostic tools on all drives and see if any of them have problems with their health causing slow access and bottlenecking the performance of the whole system. I recommend using the tools provided by the manufacturer (they are usually found on their website). For the WD drives that would be WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=R8uGUj

this sounds like a bios setting

my drives do something similar

and its cause of the firmware of the sata chipset....which I can't update anymore then I already have

I would check in the bios for a eco settings or sleep setting for sata/hdds

other option is to change the setting of the firmware on the drives to not use any eco setting/power saving setting

you'd need wd tools for this

If you need remote help fixing something on your computer

I can help over Teamviewer if you wish

just msg me on my profile
