ip adress contsantly changes

hi

 

i am having trouble with my ip address that is rapidly changing in every second as i go to web sites to

 

know my ip address

 

i know that any internet is dynamic IPs and i am cool with it as long as this dynamic ip donot at least

 

change every 3 hours to a day period but in every second i don't know about it

 

i am also noticing that the internet is a little bit slow as i am on a 2mb internet plan and the download rate

 

of such speed is at least 256Kb/sec but i download at a rate of 30 to 80 Kb/sec and i don't know if the

 

slow rate is the cause of this rapidly changing ip address

 

i have a netgear n150 wirless router like this one :

is your local ip keeps changing or your external ip ?

before coming to conclusion of "faulty" router, DHCP settings might be changed for static IP or changed to provide IP for a longer time.

should've mentioned that I was referring to the external IP address.

 

If it's the local IP address, it could, indeed be bad DHCP settings, but I don't think you can set it to change your IP that frequently <_<

the ISP side of things generally is managed by the ISP, rather than the router's settings.

 

this sounds like something somewhere took a dump, and needs fixing. if your isp isnt comtwatt a call couldnt hurt.

then again I wasnt referring to external IP.

by the way i am not dealing with any isp ..... i am dealing with a middle man that deals with isp

 

what he does is that he buys high internet speeds and by his marketing plan he divides these speeds to customers with what the customers desire

also with this speed of changing IPs will it affect the internet speed or not ?

I would guess your middle man is the issue. What type of connection do you have from the middle man to you? It's possible this connection drops or has issues which causes the DHCP client to redo what is called DORA. (Discover, Offer, Request, Ack) This is the process the client and server use to agree on an IP address. It is also possible that the DHCP server leases are set too low.
