Carpet "scenter"

So my carpet has kinda developed that smell of... Well... Old carpet, and I would like to make it smell... Better... Rug doctors are outta the question, and things safe for pets is pretty much needed (unless it's a powder you lay on for an hour or two and then vacuum off, then he can be quarantined). I don't really want an overpowering scent, nor do I really know what scent I want really. So... Ideas?

Why are Rug Doctors out of the question? They take as long as a vacuum then you let it dry for a few hours.

Nowhere else to put my shit (and no effort to move it lel), no extra money (both for my dad and myself), and my dad just did it last year and would bitch up a storm if I were to just go out and rent a Jr. to do my room and my room alone.

 

EDIT: And not only that, our cat was PISSED when he had to walk on pretty much solid wet carpet. He pretty much stayed on my dad's bed and in my room since those were the only dry spots.

Have you tried using all of the febreeze? 

If by Fabreeze you mean burping, then yes. I've used all of it.

My mom uses a febreese carpet powder you vacuum off. No idea what it's called though

Yep, baking soda should absorb the odor pretty well. It might smell a little like baking soda but it's not a bad smell, pretty nice actually. I would sprinkle some around, let it sit for a few hours, maybe throw some Febreze on top of that, then vacuum it all up.

Go to walmart and by the air fresheners there are Glade containers that have a powder that you put all over the floor, then vacuum it up later.
