getting 40~50 fps while driving in GTA 5 on High settings MSAAx4 or x0 , or on Very high settings "Grass & shadows on high" MSAAx0  ? both of them on 768p ? is that normal?

using R9 285 oc dual-x

i5 4440

because i really feel like i wasted my money on that R9 285 or actually the i5 one .. because im almost bottlenecking (low fps and low gpu usage also high cpu usage)

i mean if its all about the resolution so why im getting already low fps? i mean the gpu is not throwing frames around so we cant say its because of the resolution, which means even on1080p i would get lower fps but with high gpu usage and low cpu usage.

so is that looks normal to you guys? please inform me.. i bought GTA 5 to have some fun and now i feel so bothered..

i saw someone uses FX-6 + r9 270x oc  and he was getting 48~64fps while driving at 1080p on youtube.. "while recording" and that made me upset actually..

also saw someone uses r9 285 + i5 and he was getting 60~80fps 1080p using gta v ingame benchmark

so i wonder how im getting that low fps ? is this normal??

Lower resolution uses CPU more than GPU - at 1080p you would get better results.

thank you but i mean that gpu already getting me low fps, so at high res it will be lower fps,

in the case that i should get better results at 1080p just when im already getting overpowered fps at 768p such as 80~150fps, so i can get 60~70fps at 1080p with low cpu usage.

but in my case im already getting sux fps at 768p so how the cpu is bottlenecking but not because the gpu is throwing frames, so at 1080p i will get less fps with low cpu usage and high gpu usage.

Look, if your GPU is not at 100% usage it's not the bottleneck. From what you said it's the CPU that's being overwhelmed so when you increase the resolution you will spread out the load a bit better and get better results. Simple as that.

already used MSAA X8 to push the gpu and it came with these results :

GPU usage 100%

CPU usage 50~78% sometimes 82%

FPS : 30fps

so this is an example for what i would get at 1080p "similiar i mean" and that what does the resolution do.

but the main question is .. is that normal? "the first post"

Mate, AA is not a good way to check what would happen. MSAA tanks performance like a boss. Try 1080p if possible without AA - use VSR or something.

ye dude its something strong but it made the job, i mean it pushed the gpu to 100% and the cpu went down to 50% , it was like a simulator to see what would happen at higher res compared to low res .

Mate, a simulator is VSR - it makes the GPU render 1080p and downscales it. MSAA tanks it badly and produces worse results.

but in both ways i would get lower fps right?

No. if you are playing @ 1080p your CPU will be less stressed and the GPU would render more frames. @ 720p the CPU is more important than the GPU as it's the one that's being stressed.

ye at 720p its more important because the gpu is spreading alot of frames so the cpu gets bottenecked, and at 1080p u wont get cpu bottleneck because there will be less frames so the cpu wont work hard, which means at 1080p = less fps.

well, turn on ur Vsync before calling me ignorant, actually all ur words are just repeating of what others have said to you and u didnt even try 768p comparing to 1080p

i just have to say ok u are right while u are not " i already tried " or u gotta call me ignorant ? rofl

so rude. gl stop posting anyway u just came to a rude way so ty

Why don't you just try running the game at 1080p without Vsync and report back the framerate, used settings and CPU / GPU usage?

havent 1080p atm but i gotta try that later, but i just wanted to know if this is normal or no but the boy over there just turned the way to be rude trying to persuade me its the resolution

"the less res the more fps" everybody knows that already.

I think the latest update made the game a lot more cpu intensive. However, even when I overclock my 4690k to 4.4ghz, I get the same performance at 1080p.

Since you're cpu bound, you should see about the same performance at 768p as you would at 1080p.

For fuck's sake, use youtube.

720p on i3 - 38 fps with a 750 Ti
1080p on i3 - 48 fps with a 750 Ti.

Look at usage - not that hard.
@Akamii

EDIT: Nevermind, mixed up the reses. At any rate an i5 should be doing better. Not sure.

you should be getting the same fps as a youtube video using the same CPU since it's the bottleneck in your system.

i advice you to watch the video again

1080p : 30~38fps

720p which is lower than mine  : 52~46fps

and the usage is kinda similiar

but what disappointed me is that guy using gtx 750 ti which is far lower than r9 285 oc  plus i3 which is lower than i5 and he gets 46~54fps while driving on 720p while im getting worse than that on 768p with r9 285 oc + i5

so i wonder what the hell is going on ..

Edit : he's even using Very high settings -_-

Go into Catalyst Control Center - find VSR and enable it. Set it to 1080p and check your fps. Then report back.

and sorry buddy i havent VSR in my CCC because the monitor is old 768p LCD acer VGA

Connect it via DVI or HDMI or DP - every card and monitor connected that way from AMD using GCN have VSR.
