Since I installed my 980 I have gotten the worse background noise in my headset and I'm under the impression the only solution is to get a USD sound card to remove the chance of any noise. Problem is that I'm not well informed on the Audio side of things so I'm not really sure what is out there and or what I really need. Currently I'm using my onboard sound device and I'm driving Sennheiser PC350 Se's so nothing crazy. I'm not looking to spend a fortune but I'm not all that into buying junk either.

So does anyone have any suggestion as to what I should look for, or can you recommend a product, etc.

Thanks LTT,

If you want gamer-centric features consider a Creative SoundBlaster E3 Portable, X-Fi Pro USB, Omni USB. Cheaper options include the E1 PortablePlay! 2 & X-Fi Go! Pro.

If you don't need gamer centric features like "scout mode", voice crystalizer, equalizer, silencer, etc. that are part of Creative's package consider something like the Fiio E10k. Do note, as the FiiO is a headphone DAC/AMP it doesn't have anywhere to plug in your microphone like the Creative products do.
