Bypass Windows XP activation

So since I'm building an old school gaming PC, I'm going to have to put Windows XP on it. But, as all of you should know by now, the activation servers are dead so you can't actually activate it. Which leads me to the point of this topic: I need a way to bypass the activation crap so that it doesn't nag me and then later lock me out. I'm pretty confident in dicking around in the registry, so if it needs to be done that way, so be it.

 

EDIT: If it involves "illegal" things *cough* keygens *cough* then PM me on my own forums, since I obviously won't give a rat's ass. Pouring Pixels Forum

That usually doesn't bypass activation... The copy of Windows I have is sorta pirated as it is and it still requires activation, and I don't really have wiggle room to blow through half a gig of data to get an image I'll use once...

I was able to activate my Windows XP home key a couple of days ago....

 

Edit: And if you want a non pirated copy of XP Home, I've got the Service Pack 1a disc that came with my Compaq Presario R3000 that I can copy to iso.

I don't think you need to connect to a server to activate windows... The Ethernet and wifi drivers aren't even installed when you install it... I could give you a XP pro key to try if you want

I don't get why you need the servers to activate. You can activate windows before you even connect to the Internet so yah... Have you tried to activate?

Registering and updating probably needs the servers but I don't think activation does.

But seriously, this is where you people are going wrong, kay? On my Dell, I have XP Home installed. It has a good key. But no matter what, I can't get it to connect to the servers. Still with me? No? Too bad.

 

Without the ability to connect to the servers, XP acts as a 30 trial, after which it locks you out.

 

It's REALLY not that hard people.

Maybe its the copy of XP itself? I didn't come across that issue with all 4 computers (1 desktop 3 laptop) which all had XP Home SP1a installed well after the EOS, and they have gone well past the 30 day limit.
