In what ways?

well they are very similar in performance but when you start playing games at higher then 1440p the 390 flys way ahead of the 970 so if you play games on both of the monitors you will have better performance with the 390 but both the 970 and 390 are great cards so you will be fine either way

970 is still a great gpu though, if you already have one maybe sli?

 

that will give you or should be close to the 144fps you would need.

I would recommend you looking for a 970 with the MGS:V the phantom pain promo going, if you were going to play the game anyway get that, if not get the 390. I went for the 970 because of gamestream, shadow play and the drivers.
