Best Laptop Docking Station?

Go to solution Solved by ShadowCaptain,

I know this one can do 4K at 30Hz, Will it do 1080p at 60? or could it be that the dock is limited to 30Hz on every resolution or something? I don't really know much about this stuff

I am 99% sure it can do 1080p 60hz  i imagine its a bandwidth/connectivity limitation just like some monitors do 4k 30hz, but do 1080p60

Good News! I'm getting a free MSI GS70 Stealth Pro (ofcourse the Red edition ) and that thing will outperform my desktop that I have now.

So I thought of replacing my desktop altogether by adding a laptop dock (you know one of those things that use one USB 3 port and then give you HDMI and Ethernet that kind of thing) along with a nice Cooling pad to cable manage the power cord and that one usb cable making it look awesome on my desk and easy to unplug and grab the laptop of when I need to.

I found usb docks that can output 4K over USB 3.0 at 30Hz. I only have a 27" 1080p monitor so I like to find one that can run 1080p at full 60Hz so I can be able to game on the thing. If possible one that supports audio over HDMI. Ethernet does not have to be anything special. as long as it gives me a stable connection (better then the poor wifi in that room) and well a couple of usb ports for mouse and keyboard.

I've been looking for cooling pads that are a little bit raised so I can fit the dock underneath hiding all the cables.

If you have any experience with USB docks I'd like to know! cause there are not many reviews out there telling if they're good for someone like me, not a lot of cables, but still gaming at 1080p 60Hz. Cause I know that using the HDMI port on the GS70 would give me less latency and stuff. so I'm looking for the best allround solution.

If you know any products where I should take a look at then I'd like to know!

Honestly, being somebody that has used gaming laptops for year docked to my monitor I never bothered with a docking station

I just used a USB hub for all peripherals and cabled tied on my desk 1x ethernet, 1x DP 1xUSB and power - takes all of 5 seconds to connect 4 cables and costs absolutely no money to do

However most that provide display can easily do 1080p at 60hz#

This looks like it should work

looks like a solid choice. would this be a better option?

It have to say it looks more stylish. Although it is more on the expensive side. but I'm fine with that. This thing also gives more USB 3.0 ports and I have devices that can take advantage of that.

Sure I wasnt sure of your budget, it looks like a solid option from a decent company (used their stuff before myself)
