Had this ISP, router and such for about 12 years, and the price hasn't changed, and I know I can get better for what I pay for.

I'm deciding to talk to my ISP to get an upgrade etc. For 60-70 dollars a month, what do you guys think the minimum internet speed I should be getting? I'm not really wanting to end up paying to much for something so little again.

I checked on a website and it was 15 mbps.

My ISP is Bell Canada.

How much do you pay now? I had 12mb but I recently upgraded I'm getting 25mbps for only $5 USD more a month, and if I want to upgrade to 45mbps I need to pay $10 more a month.

Now that's what I call a ripoff (by internet speed packaging prices that are available here).

I assume you're going for the Fibe 15 plan, since that's the only one that fits the bill and I also assume you'll get unlimited data (which is $10 more)

While I know how badly Canadians get screwed over on internet plans, that looks pretty crappy. I'd go for Fibe 25, tbh (then again I have a gigabit plan that I pay like $15 for)

Shaw and telus for 60 give you 25 down and shaw doesn't enforce the caps

Bell dosent service where Shaw and Telus service.

90 dollars.

TekSavvy has 30 down 2.5 up in BC for $50, it should be cheaper in Eastern Canada.

I have fibe 25, it's reliable.

Don't bother with Rogers, they rip you off  (and put bandwidth limits that you can only get rid of by paying an extra 30 dollars)

The bandwidth limits on Rogers half the time you aren't even warned if you exceed them, so there will be a nice surprise on your bill.

Also bell fibe has really nice upload speeds, so if you are into streaming or whatever then they should work fine.

I  am in Canada as well. I am with Shaw (they pretty much have a monopoly where I am). I am paying almost 80 dollars for an extremely reliable 25 megabit down and 2 up. My speeds are often above 25 for download so I can't complain.

You only get 25 mpbs tho with fibe 25.

What I like about Bell is that you can pay an extra 10 dollars and you'll get unlimited.

Problem is that it's only 25 mpbs.

I honestly would rather have a stable 25 mbps than have an unstable 50mbps.

Also I think that the 10 dollars thing is only if you have another thing with them (example: phone and internet, tv and internet, or all 3)

Watch out for the real price of the plan. Mine said 35 dollars and in fine print, it said for the first 6 months. It is most likely the same for others.
