Well technically HDMI 1.3+ is capable of 144Hz at 1080p, it has enough bandwidth. Will it however, that's a different question

That's weird because I'm pretty the monitor I have is 75hz but in the AMD catalyst control it marks unnaturally compatible refresh rates in italics and 75hz is marked as incompatible.

Yeah it isn't a listed HDMI spec, but it has the bandwidth to do it, and because of that it will work for some displays, it just depends, you do of course have to make a custom resolution though, for AMD you need to go to the Custom Resolution Utility and change it yourself, if it works it works, that's great, if not then you're kind of out of luck, because monitors aren't required to support it. And in those cases you just need to use Displayport or Duel link DVI.

Ah ok thanks, I just use HDMI because I don't have any speakers and I don't like having my headset on all the time whenever I'm watching stuff

Ohh I see, does your display not have a DisplayPort connection though? That will allow sound too if you didn't want to use the DVI for that reason.

Unfortunately it doesn't otherwise I would use that is was only £126/$196 it just has standard DVI/HDMI/VGA. If's fine anyways I'll switch between connections whenever I'm gaming or not

Ohhh ok, if you're willing to switch guess it isn't that bad, monitor speakers are normally not the best anyway so I guess when you can buy some speakers  :o
