Computer crashes on heavy gaming load with no error code

i recently got the gigabyte gtx 960 g1 gaming edition graphics card and i am getting great performance with my 1080p monitor. the problem is that whenever my computer has been gaming for a while or is under a heavy load it just flashes to a mono color screen (completely green or tan or another color) with no response, i then have to reset my computer. this happens quite often, my computer sometimes lasts longer when i under clock it. i dont know whether it is due to a bad motherboard or my graphics card being faulty or something else. my computer specs are an i3 3250 (stock cooler) on a z77a biostar motherboard with  the gtx 960, 8gb of crucial ballistics ram and a 730w raidmax power supply.

is anyone else having this issue or is it just me?

There is a way to check for error codes:

  1. Use Winkey+R to open the Run command and type "Eventviewer":
  2. Open Windows Logs
  3. System
  4. Check in there for any critical errors ect. from around the time of the crashes and check their error codes.

The issue sounds like a video driver related crash to me.

Download msi afterburner, set a -150mhz offset clock, if this fixes it, RMA your card.
