Which is more logical

savaGe_

Does it make sense to get a gtx 970 instead of a 980 ti and just wait until next years pascal cards to release? Seems like the 970 would suffice playing most games at 1080p on high until then.

OR

Get 980 ti and later upgrade to rog swift / 1440p monitor and win.

i had the same train of thought so i went for a 1080p monitor and a GTX 970 and i`m not disappointed so far by my choice, will upgrade if the price for a 980ti and a 1440 or 4k monitor drops enough to suit my budget.

im following a similar plan. I bought the gtx970, But im more confident and expect it to last 3years until volta releases. Ofc over the years the time of being able to play everything maxed out will fade, even on 1080p.

But most games i play arent AAA titles anyway. Im playing alot of Multiplayer Games like CS:GO, MMO's, RTS, RPGs and stuff.

So it will atleast be enough for the next 3years playing with my friends. Maybe even some years for AAA titles on high settings with some tweaks.

Before i bought the gtx970 3 or 4 Month ago, i ran a GTX460 on a 1050p Monitor for about 4,5 years, and it worked fine for the most stuff.

we don't know what pascal will bring.. look at amd and their game changer.. a card that's no better than anything else.

pascal may just be the usual 10-15% increase in performance we normally see year on year.
