Before you read: Sorry if its the wrong section, I'm guessing that creating animations will have to do more on the software end of things then the general video.

Simply put, I'm new the the video editing world, I've been in graphic design for some time now, but for photo and never video. I decided I wanted to move onto video editing and graphic design, so I got a trial of Sony Vegas, If I seem to be into it then Ill get the full version, but only If I learn how to use it.

I semi-know my way around it, but barely. What I'm trying to accomplish here is making popup boxes, etc, that are smooth and appear to come out of no-where - kinda like the Like/Dislike box popup in most of Linus's newest videos. I'm pretty sure that the actual boxes and text and just static .png's being animated, but my question is how are they animated and how so smoothly. I can't seem to find any good tutorial on this on my own, so i'll ask you guys if any of you are experienced in this category or know any good tutorials that may help.

If you still don't know what I'm talking about, something like it found in the video below, at 1:07

TL;DR Anyone can teach me/provide me a tutorial on how to make smooth animations with images, etc?

Thanks

Lynda.com is your answer. You can find (no offense to the LTT community here) much more sophisticated and professional instructions there. Fallback plan: YouTube

tbh, I saw lynda.com answers coming, and If I used lynda.com I wouldn't post this, but I don't use it because I can't. There is the free trial, but from what it seems like I need to enter billing information, in which I don't have a credit card of my own, nor I can use my parents, or anything that I can use to sign up.
