Non-Genuine OS

Go to solution Solved by LogicalDrm,

. During the upgrade to Windows 10 I get to a screen that says:

Windows isn't activated on this PC. This means you'll need to enter the Windows 10 product key below or exit setup, activate windows, and then start setup again.

And I can't continue without doing that.

AFAIK You can't continue using it without the key. And I don't suppose you can contact seller and ask for it? Then your only option is to go for G2A or Reddit or pay full price for new key.

I upgraded to Windows 10 to see how it was, it didn't recognize my monitor resolution so I went back to 7. It was working fine for a day, but I came back to my computer today and it says that my OS is not genuine. What can I do besides buying a key to make it genuine.

It was completely genuine before the upgrade.

My friend's parents own a computer repair shop and they said that this can be caused by a virus or a failing hard drive. I don't suppose in either case (assuming thats the problem), fixing that would fix the problem.

there are a few solution.

buy from G2A

buy from a forum like reddit or some other place (dangerous)

contact the seller from which you buy the pc/laptop
