Depends on the hardware. if the LCD driver will support the resolution you might have to modify the connection.

edit, based on the idea that you asked this means you don't know exactly what you're doing so I wouldn't recommend it. but everyone starts somewhere. If you do attempt it you will need the pin-out of the two displays, of which is REALLY hard to find. It took me 3+ hours and $10 to find one for a sony rear projection tv where a color driver went out.

yeah no, it'll mess up so much, so in the end it's just not worth it.

Displays in laptops are not upgradeable.

That is technically untrue.

Okay yes, you could do that, but I'm talking about elegant upgrades. Not the "duct tape a display onto my car hood" style - whatever that particular one would accomplish.

Either get the 700$ lenovo z70-80. It has a 1080p 60hz IPS panel. Makes sure it actually has IPS before you buy, some companies love to LIE a lot.

Or look around for refurbished/old 800$ 1080p 120hz TN laptops. Like: Alienware M17xR3

Thats the cheapest you can do for a laptop, if you want something other than the usual 60hz TN garbage.
