it should, all it does is put windows 10 on a usb like you would with windows 8/7

No. It has an option for USB ISO or upgrade straight away.

I was just wondering because I have been struggling with the upgrade itself like freezes, fails on Windows update etc.

i used that on 2 machines and no issues

It works but it won't keep your installed programs. If you do it with windows update you don't have to reinstall anyhing ( most of the time )

Its fine, its a fresh install so I dont care too much

I don't know why people say this doesn't work, it puts the windows installer on a flash drive just like windows 8, you can upgrade or do a clean install....
