Question about Drivers

Go to solution Solved by ThE_MarD,

Heyyo,

Even without drivers directly from Asus? You should be fine. It'll probably just install generic drivers from the manufacturer to make it all work.

I have an even older motherboard, a Gigabyte Z68X-UD7-B3 on the older LGA 1155 socket and she runs without issues. ;)

Heck, my motherboard doesn't even show any Windows 10 anything lol but she all works without a hitch.

Tbh? I'd just leave the stock Windows 10 drivers on there unless you actually have a bug. If so? Then you can always try your Windows 8.1 drivers on it.

Hey Guys,

Like everyone else, I`m looking to upgrade my Windows 7 PC to Windows 10. After installing the new OS, I will need to install the drivers again (I will do a clean install and some drivers are not compatible). However, Asus don`t have any drivers for Windows 10 for my Z77 MoBo (P8Z77-V Pro/Thunderbolt). So, I was think if is possible to use drivers from other manufacter, for example, downloading and installing drivers for my onboard Audio from Realtek instead of Asus, or if the Gigabyte have a Mobo with the same Asmedia Controller, I can use drivers from their website.

What do you guys think?

Drivers are specific to each manufacturer. It won't work.

It's safe to assume that Win8/8.1 drivers will work just fine

Can you just wait? Because Windows 10 is just out for 2 days, so they probably undergo testing at the moment.

What drivers would you even need? Windows 10 had nearly every driver for my Z97-A, including my drivers for onboard, I'm sure it has your Z77 drivers.  It even had drivers for my Roland Audio interface, which aren't even on Rolands site yet

Heyyo,

There is one driver that's always given me grief even on Windows 7 for my Z68X-UD7-B3... Marvell Magni driver, the one for the Marvell SATA Controller. It doesn't affect performance overly as I haven't noticed it... might boost my read/write by a dozen MB/s at the most I'm guessing. :P

Thanks for the information!

I`m currently backing up my files, so I didn`t install window 10 yet. I was thinking downloading the drivers before installing the new OS, but now, I will do this after the installation process, if something is missing.
