Good First Build?

So I'm new to this whole PC building thing and also is my dad (he is helping me build it). I spent time trying to create a system that will last a fair amount of time (Dad wants it to last me till college). This is a gaming/general use PC and I have a graphics card. I'm a little over budget and this is also why I'm here.I'm open to any suggestions about different parts. I have an external drive for storage, but I need something for OS,drivers,AV,etc. I would like to get quality parts so I can reassure my dad. My budget is 600-700 USD. I can care less if I choose Intel or AMD.Thanks for any help, have a nice day/night.

I have a 7770. I will be gaming quite often. Also I was about to add this in but I would like to keep the price as close to 600 as possible. Thanks for the very fast replies.

I got my build(in signature) for around 700$USD or less. 

Life is pain. Anyone who says any different is either selling something or the government.

Get the FX-6300 and MSI board.

Then just go with my build and take out the ssd for now. Add it later down the road.

You won't see any difference but 990x allows for better overclocking and is generally better for cpus with more cores.
