What to do with a "new" phone?

Stuff happened, adnd now im stuck with a Note 1 dfor a while and i am not sure what to do with it?

 

What should i install, what should i do to make it faster? and what are some apps you recommend?

In terms of making it faster/more modern? Unlock the bootloader, install a custom recovery, install a custom ROM and root it.

 

Then just use it like any other Android device. If you need more performance and don't care too much about battery life, overclock it.

Nah i dont need performance as i dont play games, i want More battery and less lag through interface and facebook etc.

Nah i dont need performance as i dont play games, i want More battery and less lag through interface and facebook etc.

Then most of my post still stands. TouchWiz was (and to some still is) notoriously heavy and taxing on system resources. The only thing from my post that shouldn't be done is overclocking.
