Is there any difference between the 4690 and 4690k besides having the ability to overclock? are they the same ghz speeds?

4690k is 4 cores and 4 threads, 4790k is 4 cores, 8 threads. Games will never see that workload. 4690k is best for you.

You might never notice unless you need slightly fast cores. So older games and even for some reason new ones use 1 or 2 cores and thats will you would likely see the difference. I got one just to eek out the life that much longer in a few years.
