I've been trying for over two years now and I think I've finally found a guide that might do the trick for debian and one for Ubuntu... Still have to try them myself though.

Debian: http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-debian-squeeze-ispconfig-2-p4

Ubuntu: http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Mail_Server_setup

PS: in principle both should work on both debian and ubuntu as ubuntu is derived from debian and uses almost exactly the same packages/packaging system

I just wish to point out to anyone wanting to set up an email server on a home internet that it probably wont work, theres a lot of spam filtering to do with what Addresses are allowed to send email, and any dynamic IP gets blocked, You'll need a static IP that's registered to be allowed to send emails.

Arch Linux on Samsung 840 EVO 120GB: Startup finished in 1.334s (kernel) + 224ms (userspace) = 1.559s | U mad windoze..?
