Windows 7 Update Error

Hi guys I am trying to upgrade to Windows 10 but I have to update my windows 7 first so that it gives me the option to upgrade.I am trying to use windows update for windows 7 and it gives me the error code: 80070002. I have deleted the contents of the DataStore folder and the Download folder in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution and tried to update again but it gives me the same error code.
