problem with upgrading to windows 10

i cannot update to windows 10 from windows 8.1 unless it deletes all my apps in the process, which i dont want to happen. i have read that changing my language is the problem so i changed it in control panel from english to my native language (which i pressume was detected while the windows 10 mediacreationtool64x was downloading) and i still cannot update without it automatically deleting my apps. can some1 help?
