No it does not, it will deactivate in a few weeks unless you activate it with your W7/8/8.1 key that is genuine.

You can upgrade for free, yes.

 

OP was saying that he was laughing at all the plebs who can't get it, and he's had it for months, i went on to say that he'd had the technical preview for months, not the full version.

It will update 7 and 8/8.1 only.  So, I guess that means you have to reinstall and then tell it to.  

Ya I have already updated through W7, I only had that thought cus I saw some people talking about it over on r/windows10.
