Which cooler for 4790k

I've ordered my 4790k and I was planning on using the stock cooler but after some research I found out that this is probably not the best idea

Im going to do some C4d rendering

Will I need another cooler to stop it from throtteling?

In my opinion if someone's going to spend $300+ on a cpu they should invest in an after market cooler.

A pretty decent, not too expensive water cooler would be this one http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-cpu-cooler-h55 corsair h55.

If you're not overclocking, then the stock cooler will be fine. If it didn't do its job at stock speeds then Intel wouldn't include it.

I would still recommend an aftermarket cooler even if you aren't overclocking as it means you can carry heat away from your CPU more efficiently. Stock coolers also blow hot air into the case, whereas something like an air cooler or water cooler would direct the flow of hot air in a specific direction.

i would go with the noctua nh-d14 or the nh-d15

 

the nh-12s and nh-14s are not powerful enough with a single fan

 

alternatively, you could go with an aio liquid cooler; i'd recommend the h100i gtx or the h110i gtx

What is the budget? Do you prefer air or water cooling?

They're also easy to remove when you want to upgrade. You can pick yourself up a cheap cooler from Cooler Master or bequiet! for really cheap, so I'd do that anyway rather than installing a stock cooler, then cleaning it after removing the stock cooler.

If you get an aftermarket air cooler then that won't be an issue. They have no moving parts, with the exception of the fan, which can be easily replaced.

The only time it's necessary to remove an air cooler is if you're doing maintenance, or you're getting a better cooler.

I'm not using an air cooler, I have an AiO water cooler, so the pump would be more likely to go long before the fans do.
