If you already have the motherboard then yeah go with the 860k. If not look at either an AM3 or an intel chip

I have two FM2+ systems, 7870 and 7850

If you have a microcenter nearby you can atleast get a 6300 with mb for a hundred or 8320 for 150ish

Someone said best buy will price match. I would call to confirm.

860k would be best and cheapest if you already have the mb. APU would be a waste cause the APU graphics would just be diabled in favor of the more powerfull 270x

actualy, i would pick the 860K over the pentium because it can play every games...but it plays them poorly, and most of the time the G3258 is actualy faster...the pentium also give you a full upgrade path up to the i7-4790K...the FM2+ shit is use, regret and throw away kind of stuff...

i won't recommend neither of them, i recommend a core i3-4160 which is 102$ right now and can be dropped into a 45$ motherboard, this will outperform both chips significantly in just about anything.

This will give you the performance you are looking for, performs better then your FX-8370 in 9 games out of 10, while costing much less and being a lot more energy efficient, it's also better and much more stable than an overclocked pentium, and obviously worlds better than the 860K:

You will learn, the numbers are bigger make them CPU's look more powerful but numbers mean jack...200 or 300mhz extra you NEVER be able to notice, so better save your money.

all in all, if you're building a gaming rig, avoid those sub 100$ CPU's as they are pretty much guaranteed to disapoint soon or later...the lowest end gaming ready CPU is really in the core i3 line up --->¨and FX-6300 for example this can be a good one if you plan NO FUTURE UPGRADES, it can run on cheaper board (won't require an 8 phase board for safe operations therefore can find 60-70$ board for this thing) it's a dinausor but will get you by if you aint plan on going higher end graphics solutions down the road anyways, it will never be good for gaming cause the IPC is so low, and the i3 will always be a better choice.

FX-83XX are pointless because if you can afford one of these along with a not so cheap AM3+ board capable of rocking it and a proper CPU cooling solution you're already spending way too much on an outdated platform that can't compete in any ways shape or form when compaired to an haswell core i5, even the lowest end locked i5 are much better than an highly overclocked FX chip (and yes i have first hand testing with modern hardware and modern games on all these chips i'm talking about)

I did rocked the FX-8320 @ 4.6ghz (in fact i was able to play crysis 3 at 4.7ghz one day on it), i did ran it with 2 and 3 modules enabled to see the difference when compaired to an FX-43XX or FX-63XX, i did ran my 4770K at various clockspeed on a dual-core configuration, dual-core with HT, quad-core and quad-core with HT. i've tested MANY games, in some it won't change much what CPU you have, in some others it's day and night.

on topic: the althon x4 860 is the fastest fm2+ cpu, however an intel platform would give you a much better upgrade route as you can go all the way up to an i7 whereas with fm2+ there is nothing to upgrade to above the 860 so you will have to buy a brand new platform next time around.

on topic: the althon x4 860 is the fastest fm2+ cpu, however an intel platform would give you a much better upgrade route as you can go all the way up to an i7 whereas with fm2+ there is nothing to upgrade to above the 860 so you will have to buy a brand new platform next time around.
