Problems activating Windows 10? /Help

First things first, I have a legitimate copy of Windows 8, which I upgraded to Windows 8.1 a few months back and now today installed Windows 10 through CMD using /wuauclt.exe command because one of my files was corrupted I guess hence the delay for my machine receiving the prompt.

 

I checked the activation tab and it appears it says "Windows can't activate. Try again later."

 

The error details tab doesn't display anything apart from a white empty box. 

 

Need help. 

 

EDIT 1: I have re-installed via the media creations tool "upgrading" method. For unknown reasons it will replace my Windows 8.1 pro key with the generic key: 3V66T causing issues for me. For those who have had success, did you get a unique key? 

 

EDIT 2: I Finally got it to work. Go to the activation tab, click the activate button and keep continuously clicking it, whilst its loading, it will fail the first few times but keep retrying and suddenly it will activate just like it did for me :) - Mash that button like a thousand times.

Thought I'd drop by to mention the microsoft forums are slow as heck if that's got anything to do with the license validation failing. Also the update download on my system has ground to an almost-halt at 160KB/s down

I'm having issues with my activation right now, tried phone activating, its not working either.

Sorry but its irrelevant, this topic gives an universal key to use with Windows 10 Preview. We're talking about the real full version released today, and the use of our own W7/8 original key.

Same here, "Can't activate, try again later", I have an original W8.1 Pro key. Updated through the W10 media creator software.

Same, I've just tried that method now and still its not working, Microsoft will call me back tomorrow to resolve this bullshit issue.

I've tried using various SLUI numbers etc.

 

Just had same issue after i did reset my pc from windows, had to do clean install from usb stick i made from iso which i made from esd file that was included on the c: drive

 

The esd file is unique and contains your windows 10 key from reservation, you can try add that key and activate but won't activate which is weird no idea why, hopefully will see better fix.

I give up literally now, I have no clue what to do, Cant be asked with clean installing again.

Little update after 1h30 on the phone and 2 different persons, they asked me to remote control with them, then after a few useless things, asked me for my 8.1 key, and they're giving me a new windows 10 key I guess, but since the activation service is down, they'll call me back tomorrow like you... Let's wait and see

Why they giving out generic keys ?

Is microsoft making windows free or something ?

 

Both pc and laptop are activated but they both have generic keys.......... thanks microsoft for being so unclear and dumb.

The key is somehow specifically only able to work with only one device, it doesn't even make sense.

I got given a case number, I am using my second windows 8 pro license, upgrading to see if it works this time.

I would not post the key in public, someone can activate it on their machine and you'll be shit out of luck.

I would not post the key in public, someone can activate it on their machine and you'll be shit out of luck.

it's a generic key that everyone seems to be tied to when they upgrade their machine from a previous OS. You can't use it to activate a win 10 copy, I tried that and it didn't work. Win 10 works by checking your hardware Id instead of key

Another update, very disgusting one...

 

A friend was running a windows 7 unnofficial with a stupid loader... (when WE have original keys), I updated her computer with windows 10, as we did, it worked like a charm, and guess what, her pirated windows 7 gave her an ACTIVATED Windows 10. 

 

How fair is that for us ?

Seriously should we all do the same...

 

EDIT : to be more specific, I noted hey pirated key with the loader, BEFORE the install, who worked SO well, and after the install, the key changed and is activated, FOR FREE she got a 270$ Windows 10 Pro key, that doesnt need a loader anymore since its changed in her own.

Is your other licence W7 or W8 ? Cause this DISGUSTING trick works only with W7 loaders, (cause of the SLIC breach)

OH MY GOD I FINALLY FUCKING ACTIVATED. Here is this method bro, it works 100 %. Go to the activation tab, and mash that activation button like hell even once you clicked it, keep clicking it like forever and mine just activated. OH MY GOSH IT WORKS :) :) :)

 

DONE IT LIKE OVER 20 TIMES, DONT GIVE UP, KEEP CLICKING IT!!!!

Just an important thing though, is your present W10 installation from Windows 10 media creator, or from W8.1 Windows Update ?

My present one now is from the media creation tool, I re installed windows 8 and went from there, do the above method now and youll have a smile on your face. :)

 

It doesnt matter if its from the prompt update or the media creation tool, just mash that button.

Problem is, I think that the media creator one somehow failed to transform my W8.1 original key to a W10 key, cause as you've probable seen, on the activation window, it indicates the last numbers of your actual product key, and mine finish exactly as a generic W10 preview key :( 

 

I saw on other forums that some people got this generic key without ever enter it, updating from an original, care to tell me just the 5 last numbers you see ? (the rest is hidden anyway to avoid easy stealing)

Everyone has the same generic key, what you have to do it mash that activate like hell and it will literally activate windows,  it ends in 3v66t like everyone else.

That would be weird to all have the same key right ? Imagine for a further clean reinstall ?

 

I dont get it, but i'm gonna try to keep smashing it for sure
