Windows 10 Question

Go to solution Solved by Denned,

Download a Windows 10 iso and burn it to a USB stick. Clean install from that :)

Edit: You can Download / create a USB with Windows 10 on it, with this tool. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

I've already reserved my copy of Windows 10 but I had a quick question before I install it. Right now, I have Windows 7 and I have a disk for it. So if anything goes wrong or I want to swap out a drive, I can do a fresh install by just popping in the disk. But with Windows 10, will I have this same luxury? If I decide swap out a drive one day or if something goes wrong, how can I do a fresh install of Windows 10? I'm sorry if this sounds a bit stupid...haha Thanks a lot for your help!

Just make a bootable DVD or USB drive with Windows 10 on it.

In your C:\$Windows.~BT directory you want to grab 1 file. It's called the Install.ESD and put it outside into a new folder so I'll call mine Windows 10 Pro 64

You want to then grab the decrypter which is in the Microsoft One Drive URL here
you then want to extract everything and run decrypt.cmd as admin
You want to make sure that the install.esd is in the same folder
at the command prompt choose option 2 and let it extract
Then grab Rufus and flash the ISO to a 4GB USB drive

Got to decrypt the esd file first from your computer to make the ISO. Only safe way.

I keep forgetting only Facepunch has automerge...
