This reminds me of the excitement of Win 7. I'll be pleased to have 10 on my main rig.

Oh god Win 7.

The rig I had around then was running Win XP. Upgraded to Vista about three months after it hit shelves. IMMEDIATELY went back to XP.

When I got my laptop in '09 I decided to give Vista one more shot (I already owned it and didn't have money at the time to get Win 7). Took me 6 hours to set everything up only to have Vista crash and burn. I said screw it and borrowed some money. Bought Win 7 the next day and I've never regretted the decision.

Started using Win 8 about a week before the release (MSDNAA early birds FTW!), switched to 8.1 day one and now Win 10 day one.

I might have a problem with OS early adoption O.o

Hehe.

I never really had any problems with Vista - it was snappy and reliable on the system I ran it on at the time (C2D, 2GB of RAM, so definitely nothing special).

7 WAS better though, but for older hardware, 8.1 is perfect. My CCTV box is a C2D @ 2.8GHz and has a single stick of 2GB of RAM, runs much, much better on 8.1 than it ever did on 7. I'll be very interested to see how 10 is on there.

I had every problem known to man with Vista. I loved the new UI, but it worked about as well as a rock works for fine clockwork mechanisms. After switching back to XP I started using those oldschool UI converter pack thingies to make it look sleeker.

I sill use Win 7 at work (for some reason) and I can definitely see a difference in performance from Win 8.1 (which I used to run on my laptop, which was a 1.9GHz DC with 3Gb of ram), where the work PC is slower than the craptop (work PC has a 4570 and 4Gb ram, which is way better than the craptop, spec-wise). Hell, sometimes if I have more than 4 tabs open in Chrome the PC goes into snail mode...

My HTPC is happily running it this morning. Gaming rig has the folders on the C drive but they aren't complete, yet.

Main rig... damn!

I've checked the Volume Licensing website at work so I could install it on my work rig, but it isn't there, yet.

I force installed on mine using the cmd command, now I have activation issues with Windows. :(
