Hello all,

I just got scammed on CS:GO, and I need a program to attempt to remove the malware. Malwarebytes can't find anything, but I'm 100% sure there is malware present on my PC.

What programs can I use best?

Thanks

AFAIK, the bots on CS:GO that do that are a one time use.

I usually do a once-over with Sophos on systems I remove viruses from. They have a paid antivirus and other softwares, but they make their Virus Removal Tool freely available to use for private use.

*Edit. Once you go over a system with a virus remover, you may still need to manually remove some software from the Programs and Features menu in Windows.

Well this was different. I wanted to join a TS3 server, it asked me to download a sound plugin (seemed pretty normal), as soon as I did, it threw me off Steam and my items were gone.

Malwarebytes is design to assist your realtime AV as it provide zero day protection against newer threats that your AV likely to miss. If you want best antivirus with no slow down, i recommend ESET Nod32 or ESET Smart Security which is come with firewall plus no slow down at all. However, if you want some tough dawg antivirus industries get either Kaspersky or Bitdefender paid antivirus solution. If you are broke as hell, go with Avast free antivirus.

I'm been using ESET Smart Security since V5 and let me tell you i don't feels  any major slowdown compare to Norton and McAfee.

I've been using Symantec for over 5 years and I don't have any complaints. It's a bit overzealous but it doesn't bother me ^_^

Nothing from Symantec is of any worth, Avast sends too many false positives. There are some good free ones like Malwarebytes and Outpost Security Suite but keep in mind that free means in most cases, a scaled back version of the paid thing. Apart from any anti-virus you also want to use a proper networking firewall with real time scanning and rule creation. I advise you get malwarebytes and Outpost and run them one at a time and don't have both installed on your PC together as they can see each other as a virus.

Two great anti-virus with firewalls are Webroot Security Complete/Internet Security Plus and Outpost Security Suite.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

This program along with Malicious Software Removal Tool from Windows didn't find anything. Does this mean my PC is clean now?

If neither of those two things found anything, then the automated process of virus removal is probably complete. However, you will want to go through the "Programs and Features" menu in windows and uninstall anything that looks BLATANTLY like a tuneup service, toolbar, malware/etc. Don't uninstall anything there unless it is BLATANTLY junk.

If you're unsure if a program is malicous or not you can use http://www.shouldiremoveit.com/ which should you find out if a program is malicious or not.

Also, if you had a virus on the computer before, it never hurts to reset your IE browser settings. "Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options | Advanced Tab > Reset" Check the "Delete Personal Settings" checkbox, then select "Reset"

Alright, thanks. I'll upgrade to windows 10 anyway, and will do a clean install after, so that I'm sure my PC is completely safe.
