Possible dead pixels - any help?

Go to solution Solved by ShadowCaptain,

yeah... I have no idea how it got there and even less ideas about how to get it out. I'm not comfortable with popping it open (it's expensive :() and I don't know if the warranty covers it. I'll have to ask. Shaking the monitor doesn't seem to be doing anything.

hopefully warranty does, it shouldnt be there

Hi everyone,

I just noticed what appears to be a cluster of dead pixels on my pb287q. I found it pretty strange because I thought dead pixels happened one at a time, not 10-15 in the same spot. However I tried rubbing it gently with a tissue but none of it came off, so it doesn't look like it's dirty - I even tried using a fingernail without pushing too hard to avoid any more damage. At the moment I'm running "UndeadPixel" as suggested here. On the website it suggests letting it run for several hours, so I don't know if it's working or not (the spot is most definitely still there). Thing is, the 5x5 square doesn't even cover the whole anomaly, which is what makes me suspect it's something different and measn if it works I'll have to repeat the process to remove the part that didn't fit. I'm also afraid running it for that long may cause other damage like screen burn-in. Any suggestion is appreciated.

Try turning off the display and shining a light on it, most dead pixels I see nowadays are just dust stuck inside the display glass.

You're right, the spot is visible even when the monitor is off. Do you know any way to solve that?

here's a pic, although I think it's dirt at this point (it's also a lot more pixels than I originally thought)

damn. is that because you don't care or does it go away eventually?

Because I can't. It was in my iPad and I couldn't remove the glass from the panel nor from the digitizer.
