Moon Symbol on iMessage?!

KingAceves

When I open iMessage on my iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 8.4, there is a small moon symbol next to one of my recent contacts that I texted. The moon wasn't next to any other contacts. Please tell me what this means. Thanks.

I have been trying to figure this out for WEEKS!!! Finally got an answer to it. It is something you turned on accidentally. When you open that persons messages click DETAILS in the top right of your screen and in the middle of the details area there should be an option that says Do Not Disturb. You cannot see this in your settings. Only on the details of that persons messages. It makes the notifications from this person silenced. May come in handy for some people BUT super dumb when you dont mean for it to be on. Im just glad I FINALLY found out how to make it go away haha

If it's a crescent moon (and if the other person is on iOS and using iMessage) then I'm guessing it's that they set their phone to like do not disturb or whatever its called on iOS.

I was thinking that so I used my moms phone and turned on her do not disturb. The symbol didn't show up on her contact name.

Sure you haven't accidentally turned on Do Not Disturb for that contact?

I'm positive I didn't accidentally turn it on.

Could you post a screenshot of it?

Pretty sure it's DND...

Select the text message with the crescent moon. Then select details. There is a Do Not Disturb option in that window. You may see that your thread or contact has the Do Not Disturb turned on.
