Should I upgrade my CPU?

Hello, so I built a PC a bit ago that I use for Gaming/rendering, and I am wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade my CPU. I currently am using an i7 2600k (@ 4.2 ghz), should that be fine until Skylake releases? Or should upgrade to haswell? (And if I matters for some reason my GPU is the GTX 680)

If it was me I would not upgrade until I can see something that really hinders my CPU's performance. I think that it should be fine until Skylake but technology is unpredictable and can't be certain.

Your cpu is fine. If you're having any problems with that config, my guess would be getting more ram since you have solid parts for some decent rendering.

Btw, what kind programs are you rendering with?

id upgrade it only if i need for more performance and OC'ing the 2600k is just not cutting it

 

will probably look in to sandybridge-E or ivy-E ?
